Tough choice, iPhone or the Xbox 360?

Well, this is a tough choice, if you could only buy one, which would it be - the new iPhone or the Xbox 360? Hmmmmm, the new iPhone has new and advance features to offer while on the other hand xbox 360 has more stuff to offer also. Actually, I watched a video in http://www.clashorama.com/index.php?id=178 about this one, with Gates retiring and Jobs unveiling the new iPhone, someone had to do one last 'How do you Compare': Steve Jobs v. Bill Gates. With both of these guys who have dominated the technology world for the last 25 years. Touch choice huh?

Too much commercialism in aggressive music?

I'm a huge fan of aggressive music, and I understand that in order for a band or an artist to survive and make a decent living, you need to bust your ass and establish as many revenue sources as possible. Selling merch, licensing, ringtones, touring are all important, but recently, I saw a clip of Emmure's newest music video for their newest album, The Respect Issue, on some blog my friend showed me. For some reason, I can't find the video on YouTube but that is besides the point. The video just made me feel like it was more about being cool and looking cool than part of a hardcore community. Think of the gangsta rap group, N.W.A.'s video "Straight Outta Compton." Now think of the G Unit video "Stunt 101". To me, the Emmure video is the G-Unit video of hardcore music. Of course, there are huge differences in the videos, but they share a concern for aesthetic. Emmure's music is also featured on TNA. I'm not calling Emmure out or trying to ridicule them, I'm just using them as an example. The point I'm trying to make is that when niche music of any kind is going to be released into the mainstream, you have to be careful because the meaning of the music and culture can change. Is hardcore culture all about wearing 59fifty hats and TNA wrestling? I thought hardcore was a counter culture. I'd love to hear your thoughts on this.

Hi

This site is cool!!

good places to go away

i'm a believer in going to many places before one dies. the fact is, when you die, you die and there's no coming back (sorry if i offend anyone's religious beliefs). so why not enjoy yourself? earlier this year i went to the yucatan area in mexico. it was great! the resort i stayed at was the grand mayan palace. it is close to playa del carmen, telum, and cancun. however, it is quieter and not as much party party as cancun. so unless you plan to bar hop you're whole week away, i would recommend the resort if you're traveling to that area. i didn't even need a car as they have shuttle services to the nearby cities and used the travel agency on site to arrange excursions. they're not a bad deal and the guides are great and goes through great lengths to make sure you're happy. only drawback, make sure you are determined to say no when and if you go to their timeshare presentations. it's not as good as they make it sounds. however, by attending, you get 10% off your bill and discounts on the travel excursions. so any recommendations for vacations?

Summer Music Festivals

There are always a lot of great summer music festivals happening through out the United States. I used to make it a goal to go to as many of them as possible, but now I have a job. So, I have to choose the ones that I care about the most or are closest to where I am. My two favorite ones are Mountain Jam and The Grass Roots Festival. Anyone who reads this going to call me a hippie and blah blah blah. I hear it all the time, but you can't please everyone. You can only be true to yourself. Sorry to anyone who reads this that I like musicians that know how to play their instruments and don't only play power chords. I learned how to do that when I was 10 years old. I have moved on...

Using blogs to promote movie 'I Hate Sarah Marshall'

So i was on perezhilton.com and clicked on a banner by accident and it sent me to this blog http://www.ihatesarahmarshall.com/ They've set it up to look like a real blog and it's actually on blogger. It's a pretty cool way to get movie goers engaged and build interest in the movie's characters. check it out.

Holiday Music

Do you listen to holiday music? what types do you listen to? Covers, originals?

Suggestions for this site

I noticed in the "celebs" section that the artists are in alphabetical order. I thought it would be better if our biggest artists were listed first. Not to take away from other artists but it would be more impactful.

Rhap$ody take$ on iTune$ and Prince Charle$'$ car run$ on wine

Rhapsody's new MP3 store makes iTunes, the hippest #1 music retailer, sound SQUARE. It seems as though Rhapsody is bangin' on all cylinders. Two of the most appealing features about the new store is that the MP3's are DRM FREE, and users can preview the songs in their entirety; no getting stuck in the "30-second ghetto". Rhapsody has also formed several partnerships to…

Zuse and Uno, two new tech products. One is useful. The other one, not so much, but it's still cool!

First, we'll start off with the silly, not so life-changing product. Remember those, ridiculous dot matrix printers from back in the day that used those perforated paper stacks with the perforated hole-punched edges? Well, the Zuse utilizes the same concept of dot matrix printers to toast pictures into your bread. HA! It toasts an image, from a memory chip, line by line, toasting at 12x12 pixel resolution. I… Continue

Scientists Feel the Heat as They Take Bets on the North Pole Melting This Summer

According to CNN.com, scientists have got a betting pool going on whether the ice cap at the north pole will completely melt by this September. There is a 50-50 chance it will happen. Of course, this circumstance will be brief since the winter cold will freeze everything over again, but it's still a bit frightening to think about. We've been conditioned to think that the north pole should be covered in ice. Experts were estimating that earth would lose it's summer sea ice cover by 2100 or 2050.… Continue

What will good manners mean in the future? Letting institutions control us...... READ THIS

We're all aware that "stealing", sharing and reproducing and selling copyright protected media is against the law and causes record labels, artists, and production companies to lose money. So far, they've cracked down on piracy in China , shut down P2P sites, tracked down album leakers (like that Skwerl guy that leaked the new G&R), and have sued helpless file sharers for unreasonable amounts of money. This my come to an end with new "Digital Manners Policies" or DMP technologies. I read on… Continue

Indie game developers get the chance to reach out

Indie game designers are getting a break as Microsoft, Sony, and Nintendo offer the opportunity for people outside of their production teams to develop games. Microsoft for example, released a version of their development software available to anyone, meaning you did not need prior experience in programming. The software, XNA Game Studio is free, but to publish a game, developers must pay a fee or $99 a year to become part of Microsoft's Creators Club and have their work reviewed by peers. If yo… Continue
